Dirty Heads-Sound of Change

Another single off of Dirty Heads' upcoming album, Sound of Change is an anthem for this summer. With an uplifting chorus and some good verses by Dirty J and Duddy B, the eponymous track has me even more excited for the group's third studio album. Look out for Sound of Change on July 8 and download the single on iTunes now.

Dirty Heads-My Sweet Summer

SoCal band Dirty Heads are back with their new single "My Sweet Summer." The track is off their upcoming album Sound of Change, out July 8. "My Sweet Summer" seems to show DH reverting back to their old style, circa-Any Port In The Storm, a little more punk-infused reggae than Cabin In The Sea.

Ziggy Marley-I Don't Wanna Live On Mars

When I first heard this track I realized how long it had been since I had found a good Reggae-Rock track. 2 year ago, this was all I listened to. Bands like The Dirty Heads, Ballyhoo, Passafire, and Slightly Stoopid were my life. Of course, I saw this song because I had already loved Ziggy Marley, too. "I Don't Wanna Live On Mars" has the perfect combination of electric guitar and good vibe reggae sounds.

Passafire-Earthquake

Passafire was one of the first bands I found when I started getting into the reggae-rock scene and still one of the most promising bands right now. The group was formed in 2003 at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where all of them attended. Their 5th album Vines comes out on Nov. 11 and I definitely recommend looking into their older stuff.

The Dirty Heads-Phantoms of Summer

Today, The Dirty Heads released their 12-track acoustic LP, Phantoms of Summer. The album includes 11 original songs and an acoustic cover of their single from 2012, "Cabin By The Sea." Being an acoustic album, the sound is much slower and calmer this time around, but the group pulls it off. It's certainly a good album to listen to if you need to relax a little, but it's not as good as their previous album. Nevertheless, it's still a solid album with some welcome new tracks.

Close Enough

Close Enough is a Hip-Hop/Reggae/Rock band from Temecula, CA made up of 6 members. Unfortunately, I don't know much more than that. Their Facebook page hasn't been touched since last year and they haven't released album since their debut Noize at the beginning of 2008. Anyway, give the album a listen.

The Dirty Heads-Sloth's Revenge

The Dirty Heads have released another single from the Phantoms of Summer acoustic album, and unlike "Crazy Bitches", it's a true DH song. The song features an awesome riff, a chorus with Dirty J's vocals, and interchanging verses between Duddy B and Dirty J. Unlike the previous single they released, this is the classic DH beach vibe that makes them great.

The Dirty Heads-Phantoms of Summer

The Dirty Heads are coming out with their first album since their great 2012 album, Cabin By The Sea. It's an acoustic album including 11 new songs and a live version of "Cabin By The Sea." Their first single off the album is called Crazy Bitches. The single doesn't include the entire band, just Duddy B. (Vocalist) and his guitar as he talks about his rejected booty calls. The album is available for pre-order on iTunes and comes with an instant download of the single.

The Dirty Heads

At the moment, it looks like this blog will be predominantly Hip-Hop/Rap, but it's not exclusive to that genre. The blog will change as my music taste does. That being said, one genre that I used to listen to nonstop was reggae-rock (think Sublime). While I don't listen to the genre that often anymore, mainly because it was difficult to find good artists, my favorite band of all time is still a reggae-rock band: The Dirty Heads. It's a group made up of 5 guys from So-Cal they are definitely the best band in the genre right now.
